How Does It Happen?

Here is how Cash Reward Scams unfold.

Example of a message from a scammer informing you that you have won a cash reward/cashback.

1 The scammer will claim to be from a well-known organisation and inform you that you have won a cash reward/cashback/prizes.

2 The scammer may send you a text/email that contains a link for you to click or a number for you to call to claim the cash reward/cashback/prizes.

3 The link that the scammer has sent to you might direct you to a fake website that will harvest your bank login details.

Here is what you can do to protect yourself.

Do not reveal sensitive banking details such as your IC, PIN number, username or password over phone/messaging apps.

Remain calm. Do not immediately transfer funds to another account/recipient.

Be cautious about clicking on any links or calling the number via email, text messages or any other messaging apps.
